Norwalk CT -- (February 16, 2010) -- Following a thorough analysis of energy use information the EPA has recognized 801 Main Avenue and 45 Glover Avenue, two of the towers at Building and Land Technology's office campus located at the intersection of the Merritt Parkway and Route 7, for their superior energy efficiency performance. The third tower, 901 Main Avenue, earned an ENERGY STAR rating last August. Buildings earn an ENERGY STAR (www.energystar.gov) label by achieving a score of 75 or higher on the EPA's energy performance rating system and meeting relevant requirements for indoor air quality.
"ENERGY STAR buildings typically use 35 percent less energy than average buildings," according to BLT President and CEO, Carl R. Kuehner, III, "and that's important for the environment and our tenants. Congratulations go to our property management team for achieving this major accomplishment." Tenants at the two towers include Diageo, Hewitt Associates and Xerox World Headquarters.
Building and Land Technology has a strong record when it comes to building green. In Stamford, their office building at 800 Long Ridge - which houses the headquarters for GE Energy Financial Services - received the coveted LEED Gold certification. In addition, BLT's 80-acre, transit oriented waterfront infill development in Stamford, Harbor Point, was recently given the prestigious LEED-ND (Neighborhood Development) Gold certification. This project was the only one in Connecticut and one of just 48 in the world to be so honored.
